Avoiding car parking tickets and clamps
Many of us have been in the situation where we return to our car and find a ticket stuck on the screen or worse still a clamp wrapper around the wheel. The most common reason for parking tickets is the car has no valid ticket or is not displaying one. You may also receive a ticket for not parking correctly in a busy for example or parking on a free carpark for over the allotted time.
When parking your vehicle be sure to look round and read the signage about the rules of parking. If you have paid for a certain amount of time or it is free for 2 hours for example, then set a remaindered on your phone to ensure you have plenty of time to get back to the car and move it or extend the ticket if needed.
If you do receive a parking ticket then it is important that you do not ignore it. Even parking tickets that have been issued on private land can be withheld. If you are wanting to dispute the ticket then it is recommended that you do not pay it and then dispute it as paying the amount usually suggests that you admit to the offence and accept liability.
