Organising the storage in your garage effectively
If you are fortunate enough to have a garage space in your home, it is unlikely to be used to house your car as most homeowners tend to use their garage for other purposes.
It is easy to simply use it as a storage space where a mixture of garden furniture, boxes, tools and other items are kept without any organisation therefore causing much frustration when a member of the family is trying to find something. If the storage space is organised effectively it will appear as if the garage is much larger than it is in reality and access to items stored there will be much easier.
The first thing to do is to put up shelving so that some items can be stored on shelves rather than on the floor. It does not really matter what the shelves are made of so expensive ready-made shelving is not necessary. Decorating materials and tools can be stored in clear boxes on shelving so that the contents can be seen without lifting the boxes down.
Next look at the possibility of hanging some items up on hooks attached to the walls. Garden tools usually have handles that enable them to be hung up easily and if there are children’s toys in storage, they could be contained in bags which could be hung up making them easily accessible when needed.
