Fitting car seats correctly in your vehicle
Car seats are essential for keeping your child safe and with the recently law changes, all new backless booster seats that are manufactured must state that they are only suitable for children over 22kg in weight, or over the age of 12. Before this time the child should be in a high backed booster seat.
There is often a lot of confusion around child seats but most good retailers of the seats will be able to advise you on which one is best for your child. Always try and keep your child in a car seat for as long as possible and ideally rearward facing for as long as possible as this is the safest way for them to travel.
When fitting your car seat in to the vehicle always refer to the hand book to check that you have done it properly. IF you have bought the car seat from somewhere such as Mothercare, they will often come out and show you how to fit the car seat and check that you have it in correctly.
Car seats can be expensive but it is always better to buy new unless you know who you are buying from as a used car seat may have been involved in an accident.
