Damage to wheels on your vehicle

Categories :

Wheels are a major component of any car and although many of us remember to check the condition of our tyres and the pressures we may not take as much notice of the wheels. Wheels are either alloy or steel wheels with wheel trims and it can be hard to notice damage without looking closely or even moving the wheels. If you have new tyres fitted then the mechanic should check over your wheels for you at the same time but if you have any concerns then it is best not to wait until then, and get them checked out as soon as possible. Damaged alloys such as major dents, curbing, or cracks can cause damage to the tyres which often results in them losing pressure. This may only be slightly noticeable to start with, but if left it can be very dangerous and cause the tyre to shred.

If your wheels have been damaged then it may be hard to replace just one and many manufactures won’t sell one wheel on its own, and often it is cheaper to buy a new second hand set than to try and source just one to match your current wheels.
