Should you let others use your garage?
Having a garage can be very handy, but so many of us do not use them as much as maybe they were designed for. Most garages were built to house a car but many of us do not use them to store our cars in over night. If you are going out in your car every day then it can be a bit of a hassle having to put in it in and out of the garage constantly. It may be that you only use your garage as extra storage or possible as a place to store recycling and waste before you can get rid of it.
Lots of people choose to rent their garages out to other people. There are a number of people that do not have access to a garage that are willing to pay to be able to use someone’s who is local to the area. It may be that they have a classic car that they want to store over the winter months or a motor bike that needs some work doing on it. For them, having a garage that they can rent out as and when needed can be the perfect solution. It also allows you to make a bit of money off it but there are some points to consider. Firstly, you need to check where you stand with your insurance as most insurance companies will not cover items that do not belong to you. The owner of the vehicle may also find that their insurance doesn’t cover them unless they have stated where it will be kept and had this agreed upfront.
